The Holy See Press Office announced today that Pope Francis’ first encyclical will be released this Friday, July 5.

Started by Pope Benedict XVI during his pontificate and completed by his successor, the encyclical is on the virtue of faith and is titled Lumen Fidei (“The Light of Faith”).

A press conference will be held at the Vatican on Friday for the release of the document, and Cardinal Marc Ouellet, prefect of the Congregation for Bishops, Archbishop Gerhard Ludwig Müller, prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, and Archbishop Rino Fisichella, president of the Pontifical Council for the New Evangelization, will be among those present.
