European Union imposes recognition of ‘homosexual marriage’ on all member states

The Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) has ruled that all member states are obliged to recognize so-called “homosexual marriages” legally contracted in another country, even when this type of union is not valid under their own legal system.

Although the CJEU clarified that the regulation of these types of unions remains the responsibility of each state, it requires all European Union countries to recognize the “fundamental rights” entailed by these unions, such as the right to private and family life and freedom of residence.

The ruling, issued Nov. 25, concerns the case of a Polish same-sex couple who “married” in Germany in 2018. Upon returning to Poland, the authorities refused to record the union in the civil registry. The European Court of Justice has deemed this refusal contrary to EU law, meaning that all member states are now obligated to recognize the rights stemming from such a union.

Almost half of the European Union countries have not legalized same-sex marriage. This is the case in Poland, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Slovakia, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, the Czech Republic, and Romania.

The Catholic Church affirms that marriage is the exclusive union of one man and one woman, as the prefect of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith, Cardinal Victor Manuel Fernández, reiterated Nov. 25 during the presentation in Rome of the document titled “Una Caro (One Flesh): In Praise of Monogamy.”

The Catechism of the Catholic Church states that in marriage “a man and a woman establish between themselves a partnership of the whole life.” By its very nature, it is ordered “to the good of the spouses and to the procreation and education of offspring.”

The Church has remained firm in this position throughout its history. Earlier this year, Pope Leo XIV reiterated this understanding during an audience at the Vatican: “The family is founded on the stable union between a man and a woman.”

  1. “Marriage” between two men is NOT possible. The sheer recognition of human anatomy demonstrates that too well.

Let’s face it, Europe as a cultural and moral force is in a terrible tailspin. Before you know it, they’ll be burning books and and treasured art works in their public squares. Time-honored buildings will be torn down. It will be like France during the French Revolution when they decided to destroy evidence of the ancien regime and the Church.

What’s really important is for the USA to not get sucked into any more of Europe’s war adventures.

    • ““Marriage” between two men is NOT possible. The sheer recognition of human anatomy demonstrates that too well.”

A state imposed counterfeit is possible, especially by coercion and force.

      • TPR: it’s just that sane people know the difference between what is genuinely natural and what is counterfeit and aren’t afraid of speaking their minds about it (no matter what any government pretends to say otherwise).

  2. Name the most anti gay marriage professionals there is and that is archeologists given they know the difference between male and female skeletons just as nature tended, but won’t suprise if Rome changes it’s mind with the likes of hotlips tuco!!

  3. The catch 22 of Cardinal Victor Fernández’ Una Caro as the unique form of marriage is the irregular unions on the periphery that our Church welcomes with open arms and no conditions.
That from Pope Leo and DDF Cardinal Fernández. We may shout with superb vocal effect and conviction, in appearance, while leaving the doors of the Church wide open to an army of same sex unions as occurred in the Basilica St Peter’s led triumphantly by the pied piper of Sodom Fr James Martin SJ.
Someone please explain how this policy does not cohere with the EU on same sex unions. The mahogany furniture is bright and clean but the interior wood is rotted.

    • I forgot about it.

“In this respect, on the metaphysical road, they go further than simple narcissists because they do not identify with the gender which represents power (God the Father or the Mother Goddess) but identify with something quite sexless or both sexes mixed, androgyny or even better – with sex-blur.

Typing that definition brought to my mind the soup of meaning from my paper ‘The Conductor’ that was about the Russian state creating a “soup of meaning” in the minds of its citizens made with hypertext and endless swapping and mutual cancellation of meaning, like counter-positioning “death is love” “war is peace” and so on. The sex-blur is something that is entirely missing in this soup, two well-defined genders are still standing rock-solid in the stew, and I understood it only now – probably because before I took them for granted.

These two figures, man and woman, could never before be considered as a ground for the moral non-culpability of Russia but they can be now. Via destroying the definition of normal human marriage = family Australia (and the others in the “perverted West”) lost it all.

Without this given basic reality and basic continuum [cosy little houses, Queen Elizabeth, he – she – their three children in a Ute in the Outback etc.] the “freedoms” of the West may look far less appealing to many and the opposite camp – far more appealing. There could not be a better way of devaluing the humanistic values of the West which, while being supported by basic human normality appeared definitely more compelling than the same human normality but without humanistic values, in the opposite camp.

Curiously, the only phenomenon which can stop those who long for the basic normality of the human family from turning to Russia is the One depicted on the Russian banners, Christ, that Christ the proponents of the “sexual-blur” hate so much.”

    • Tens of thousands of Ukrainians deserve to die and many many more suffer inhumane treatment and crimes against humanity because the west allows homosexuals to enter into civil marriages?

      • Who said said Ukrainians deserve to die?
Seriously, the Ukraine has long been a center of corruption, online fraudsters, & dodgy baby surrogacy. I don’t think they deserve to die for those things either, but at least it would be closer to home.
Russia hasn’t covered itself in glory either. My goodness, it’s been just one powerful corrupt nation against a weaker corrupt nation. And we’ve been using the lives of the weaker nation in an attempt to weaken the more powerful one.
No one’s hands are clean in this scenario.

        • The commment I responded to seemed to support those that argue Putin’s war is a just one against the decadent west.
And middling corruption in Ukraine doesn’t in any way excuse Russia’s invasion and the death and destruction it has spread. France in 1939 was similarly corrupt.
          Ukraine’s hands are clean.

          • Russia may currently be the aggressor but I don’t believe anyone’s hands are clean in this scenario.
Nor do I believe commenters here support Putin. The point was that the EU is making it easier for Putin to spin his narrative about a corrupt West. Not that Putin is fighting a just war.

  4. I regret demeaning a fellow priest despite the gravity of the issue. Would that Fr Martin, instead of affirming same sex behavior were to offer support aimed at reconciliation with Church doctrine. He would likely achieve much good.
Although he was encouraged by Pope Francis and presently, it appears by Pope Leo. The Church has the responsibility to address this issue with clarity and firmness.

    • “I regret demeaning a fellow priest despite the gravity of the issue.”

He demeans himself, you are simply a scribe.

      • Paraphrasing Alfred Lord Tennyson: “More things are distraught by ‘fraternal collegiality’ than this world has dreamed.” Especially among too many bishops. Enough of ecclesial frat house loyalty.

    • Surely you know, Father Morello, that your’s was an admonition, a work of spiritual mercy, not only toward James Martin, but to those he confirms in error and sin.
      God reward you.

  5. Wasn’t the EU billed as a trading bloc? Purely economic?

And now they’re mandating homosexual sin validation in the Catholic countries.

I’m shocked, shocked, I tell you.

  6. a snip from a Pew research center article….same-sex married couples represent a very small share of all married couples – just 1.3% in 2023. Same-sex cohabiting couples account for 5.6% of all cohabiting couples.

seems like a lot of demands, likely made by those who aren’t even affected or taking part in?

  7. per a recent Gallup poll: …One in 12 LGBTQ+ Adults Married to Same-Sex Spouse
Overall, 14.4% of all LGBTQ+ adults are in a cohabiting relationship with a same-sex partner, including 8.0% who are married and 6.4% who are living with a domestic partner. These figures represent less than 1% of U.S. adults each.

I guess my point is there’s not many rushing out to get married, but there’s an outcry and big fight if you say it’s not allowed. It’s somewhat confusing what the actual situation is ‘on the ground.’

  8. Romans 1:26-27
26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.
    1 Corinthians 6:9-11
9 Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men[a]
10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
11 And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
    First letter to Timothy 1:8-14
Timothy, my son, we know that the law is good, if any one uses it lawfully, understanding this, that the law is not laid down for the just but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, immoral persons, sodomites, kidnapers, liars, perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound doctrine, in accordance with the glorious gospel of the blessed God with which I have been entrusted.

  9. Let’s face facts: No one is born homosexual. There’s no homosexual gene. If there were, then the number of those identifying as homosexual could not have risen so dramatically over the past 10 years (unless the supposed homosexual gene went haywire).

Same goes with those who claim to be transsexual. They’re not born that way. There’s no transsexual gene. If there were, the number of those claiming transexuality would not have exploded over the most recent past.

The epidemics in homosexuality, transsexuality, etc are matters of family and environmental factors exacerbated by personal choice.

  10. This is dictatorship-imposed social-engineering. And licentious post-conciliar New Rome is in no position to put up a fight.

With Tucho’s gay-couple blessings and recent pride pilgrimage… what is there left to be said?

Either Tucho’s Synodalism is hypocritical pride-posturing, or Rome really is in the process of subverting Catholic Truth.

Is Tucho’s Rome not to blame for what is transpiring?
