Bradley J. Birzer is Russell Amos Kirk Chair in American Studies and Professor of History, Hillsdale College and author of several books, including award-winning biographies of J.R.R. Tolkien, Charles Carroll of Carrollton, Christopher Dawson, and Russell Kirk. His latest books are The Declaration of Independence: A Radical Experiment in Liberty (forthcoming in May 2026) and Tolkien and the Inklings: Men of the West (forthcoming in November 2026).
