Spanish bishops’ president: ‘The invasion of Ceuta is a test. Demography is a weapon’

The president of the Spanish Episcopal Conference (CEE, by its Spanish acronym), Archbishop Luis Argüello, stated that “the invasion of Ceuta is a test. Demography is a weapon,” referring to the crisis in recent days caused by the massive illegal entry of migrants into the Spanish city located on the African coast — a situation Pope Leo XIV has also described as “alarming.”

In an Aug. 2 message shared on X, Argüello declared: “Biopolitics is key to current global power. Life is toyed with, and people — their dreams, hunger, sexuality, and data — are exploited for the sake of profit and power.”

“Migration is part of this strategy. The invasion of Ceuta is a test. Demography is a weapon,” the prelate added. Since July 31, the Spanish city of Ceuta — located on the African coast of the Strait of Gibraltar — has been facing an extremely grave situation following the illegal entry of some 60,000 people who swam from Morocco, skirting the Tarajal breakwater.

As a result, at least 72 people are believed to have lost their lives during the crossing, though the death toll is estimated to potentially exceed 100. While it is estimated that the majority of those who crossed the border irregularly have returned to Morocco, around 5,000 people still remain on the streets of the autonomous city.

Up to 22 European Union countries have pointed to the recent mass legalization of immigrants carried out in Spain — and backed by the Catholic Church — as a contributing factor to the current migration crisis.

Meanwhile, a recent Spanish court ruling invalidated the practice of so-called “hot returns” (immediate, summary expulsions) in cases where illegal entry into the country was made by swimming, as occurred on July 31.

The bishop of Sant Feliú de Llobregat, the Dominican Xabier Gómez — speaking in his capacity as the official responsible for Migration and Interculturality for the Tarraconense Episcopal Conference — stated in a reflection that “we are not facing an ordinary migration crisis.”

The “terrible and very real human drama” that unfolded has benefited neither those who took to the sea risking their lives nor the citizens of Ceuta, who “have the right to live in safety, free from alarm, and in peaceful coexistence.”

However, it has served the interests of “those who use human mobility as a tool for political pressure, those seeking to strain diplomatic relations through potential ‘hybrid threats,’ those who play on public fear, and those who turn the suffering of others and fear into electoral gain.”

After ruling out the recent Spanish Supreme Court ruling or the regulatory process as the root causes of the situation, Gómez recalled the words of Pope Leo XIV regarding the migration issue — spoken during his recent trip to Spain, which included a visit to the Canary Islands, a region that has also been heavily impacted by the mass migration phenomenon.

  1. CEE – Let me guess – Conferencia de los Eveques Espanols – It’s not that hard.
Spanish bishops’ president – Yes, it’s an invasion, yes, it’s a test and yes, demography is a weapon.

  2. See horrific European crime figures below. No wonder that the Popee talks the talk, but in his own state the Pope tolerates no illegal immigrants (See at the end of this post the harsh penalties the Vatican imposes on illegal aliens)
—SEX CRIMES AND OTHER CRIME RISE IN HIGH- IMMIGRATION WESTERN EUROPE
Figures reveal a widening divide between high immigration and high-crime in Western states and low or no immigration and far lower crime rates in Central and Eastern Europe.
    — New figures from Eurostat show that sexual violence offences across Europe continued to rise in 2024, with sharp differences between Western and Eastern countries likely to intensify debate over the link between crime and migration.
Police recorded 256,302 sexual violence offences in 2024, including 98,190 cases of rape. This represents a 5% increase in sexual violence overall and a 7% rise in rape compared with 2023.
Over the past decade, the trend has been sharply upward: sexual violence offences have nearly doubled since 2014, while rape cases have surged by 150%.
—A breakdown by population highlights striking regional disparities.
Nordic and Western European countries dominate the top of the list, with Sweden reporting 200.98 cases of sexual violence per 100,000 inhabitants, followed by Iceland, Finland, France, and Belgium.
By contrast, several Central and Eastern European countries report significantly lower rates, including Hungary (5.10), Lithuania (5.79), and North Macedonia (7.17).
Similar patterns appear in other categories of crime. Spain, Belgium, Portugal, France, and Germany rank among the highest for robbery, burglary, and theft, while Montenegro, Slovakia, and Hungary sit at the lower end.
Drug-related offences also show similar gaps, with Sweden, France, and Belgium reporting far higher rates than countries such as Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Slovenia.
RISING CRIME LEVELS IN WESTERN EUROPE HAVE BEEN INCREASINGLY LINKED TO INCREASED MIGRATION. REPORTS FROM COUNTRIES SUCH AS SPAIN, ITALY, FRANCE, AND GERMANY HAVE INDICATED THAT FOREIGN NATIONALS ARE OVERREPRESENTED AMONG SUSPECTS IN CERTAIN CATEGORIES OF VIOLENT CRIME.
IN FRANCE, NON-EUROPEAN FOREIGNERS MAKE UP 5.7% OF THE FRENCH POPULATION, BUT ACCOUNT FOR 14% OF HOMICIDES AND UP TO 30% OF VEHICLE THEFTS.
IN SEVERAL GERMAN STATES, INCLUDING BAVARIA, BERLIN, AND BADEN-WÜRTTEMBERG, ROUGHLY HALF OF ALL SUSPECTS IN VIOLENT CRIMES ARE NON-GERMAN NATIONALS (the government figures underrepresent the foreign crime because many criminals now have German citizenship though they come from immigrant families and these criminals are not counted as immigrant related crime).
AS WE REPORTED EARLIER, REPORTS OF SEXUAL VIOLENCE HAVE INCREASED ALONGSIDE RISING IMMIGRATION LEVELS IN COUNTRIES SUCH AS SPAIN, ITALY, FRANCE, BELGIUM, AND GERMANY.

  3. The crimes committed by criminals of foreign origin in Western Europe are actually underreported. The reason is that courts grant citizenship to illegal immigrants if they are born in the country.
—The judges of the EU and the hierarchs and many priests of the CC are harming the native men and women, their families and their children.
As the article points out, “Up to 22 European Union countries have pointed to THE RECENT MASS LEGALIZATION OF IMMIGRANTS CARRIED OUT IN SPAIN — AND BACKED BY THE CATHOLIC CHURCH — AS A CONTRIBUTING FACTOR TO THE CURRENT MIGRATION CRISIS.
MEANWHILE, A RECENT SPANISH COURT RULING INVALIDATED THE PRACTICE OF SO-CALLED “HOT RETURNS” (IMMEDIATE, SUMMARY EXPULSIONS) IN CASES WHERE ILLEGAL ENTRY INTO THE COUNTRY WAS MADE BY SWIMMING, AS OCCURRED ON JULY 31”

—Thus, in Germany, Abdul Ballout, the 21-year-old Muslim man who ploughed a vehicle into an LGTBQ+ Pride Parade in Berlin on July 23, 2026, killing one and injuring 29 was born in Germany of Lebanese parents so he is reported as German, not as an immigrant.

—He had recently “graduated” from a de-radicalization program of the German government.

–The same is happening in the U.S. The court system grants U.S. citizenship to anyone born in the U.S., which includes thousands and thousands of anchor babies and birth tourism.
The U.S. Supreme Court in a 6-3 decision with Justices Alito, Thomas and Gorsuch dissenting, used the 14th amendment to justify this. But as the dissenters pointed out, the amendment’s intention was to protect the rights of blacks freed after the Civil War, who were long time residents in the U.S.. It was not intended to apply to foreigners who are born here from foreign parents and birth tourism and anchor pregnancies.
—Justice Thomas, joined by Gorsuch, argued in a lengthy dissent that the 14th Amendment was intended only for those with permanent domicile and no foreign allegiance, claiming the majority “devalues” citizenship. Justice Alito, in a separate dissent, called the ruling a “serious mistake” and warned it encourages “birth tourism” and illegal immigration.

  4. See the figures below for Spain. The CC Spanish bishops are endangering Spanish men, women, families and children with the bishops’ stance on legal and illegal immigration:
    https://rmx.news/article/imported-crime-foreigners-commit-500-more-rapes-than-spaniards-400-more-murders-according-to-new-study/
’Imported crime’ – Foreigners commit 500% more rapes than Spaniards, 400% more murders, according to new study
Spain has seen penetrative rape cases jump 143% in just 5 years

—A new study highlights the outsized role of foreigners in serious crimes in Spain, which has seen worrying growth in rapes, attempted murders, and other serious crimes in just the last five to six years. The CEU-CEFAS Demographic Observatory report, titled “Demography of Crime in Spain,” examines the evolution of crime across various demographic groups and geographical areas in the country, and the researchers are warning about “imported crime” due to mass immigration.
—The study highlights several trends concerning the involvement of foreigners in criminal activities.
    Murder and rape
Some of the key findings indicate that foreigners, who make up 31 percent of Spain’s prison population, commit per capita 500 percent more rapes and 414 percent more murders than Spanish citizens. The highest rates are seen among Arabs and Latinos, with many of them hailing from countries in South America known for their extremely high crime rates.
While the murder numbers are stable in Spain at 300 per year, there has been explosive growth in attempted murders. Between 2019 and 2023, a matter of four years, attempted murder cases nearly doubled, going from 836 to 1,507.

In just five years, penetrative rape cases also soared 143 percent, going from 2,2143 in 2019 to 5,206 in 2024.

As Remix News has reported on in the past, in many Spanish states, the crime statistics show massive overrepresentation of foreigners in serious crimes like sexual assault, including in the Basque region.

    Illegal occupation
Spain is also dealing with a serious crisis involving illegal property occupation, with 170,000 cases recorded between 2010 and 2024. Of those arrested, 51.8 percent were foreigners, which is 610 percent more than Spaniards.

    Robbery with violence
In cases of robbery with violence, foreigners are 440 percent more likely to commit such a crime. Many such cases have made headlines in the Spanish media.

    Crime should be decreasing
The study heads indicate that Spain’s aging population should have led to a decrease in crime rates, but the influx of migrants, amounting to 3.8 million per decade, has led to an “imported crime” problem.

Spain: 64% of those arrested for crimes in Basque region are foreigners, including 68% of sexual assaults and robberies

The Ertzaintza, the autonomous police force of Spain’s Basque Country, has published its first report ever on the origin of detainees, with the data showing that 64 percent are foreigners, despite foreigners only making up approximately 14.1 percent of the population.

Rapists in Spain’s Catalonia are almost entirely foreigners 91% of convicted rapists in Spain’s Catalonia region are migrants They make up only 17% of the region’s population Spain has seen crime rise each year in tandem with growing migration numbers Show more

🇪🇸‼️ In Barcelona, North African migrants were caught on camera trying to bundle an 11-year-old girl into a car while she was on the way to the shop opposite her home. Her mother speaks out, “She burst into the house in tears, trembling. That night, she couldn’t sleep or eat. It was horrible.”
