At the Sunday Angelus, the pope prayed for “a just and lasting peace” as the Church closed a monthlong Marian appeal for countries ravaged by war.

Pope Leo XIV said Sunday that the mystery of the Holy Trinity teaches Christians to see every creature as made for communion — and warned that division, polarization, and contempt for differences leave the world spiritually barren.

Speaking before the Angelus on May 31, the solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity, the pope reflected on Jesus’ encounter with Nicodemus in the Gospel of John, saying the feast reveals that God’s own life is a communion of love into which humanity is invited.

“The Trinity helps us to love everyone and everything: we discover that every creature is made for communion, relationship and encounter,” Pope Leo said from the window of the Apostolic Palace overlooking St. Peter’s Square. “On the other hand, we understand why division, polarization and contempt for diversity bring destruction, sadness and barrenness to the world.”

The pope said the Church’s Easter journey, which concluded last week with Pentecost, helps believers contemplate the divine life given to humanity in Christ — a communion of love that draws believers in through the Holy Spirit.

The Spirit, he said, “unites the Father and the Son” and “has been poured into our hearts.” In this way, he added, “the Church becomes a sacrament of communion, a place of encounter, love and life where heaven and earth already touch.”

Turning to Nicodemus, whom the Gospel describes as an important figure in Israel who came to Jesus at night, Leo said Christ “welcomed him and took his search for answers seriously.”

Jesus, the pope said, “surprised Nicodemus by suggesting that it was even possible for an adult to be reborn and led him to realize that the life of God could transform his own life.”

Leo noted that Nicodemus later defended Jesus before the Sanhedrin, urging others to listen before condemning him.

“He had received the Spirit of communion from God through Christ himself, which opens the heart to new truths and to true renewal,” the pope said. “Whoever does not welcome this Spirit grows old quickly, in sorrow, feeling all alone and without joy in their hearts.”

By contrast, Leo said, the solemnity of the Trinity is “a day of celebration.”

“God’s feast is also ours,” he said, citing St. Paul’s exhortation to the Corinthians: “Rejoice, strive for perfection, encourage one another, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you.”

After leading the Angelus, the pope recalled the prayers for peace raised throughout the Church during May, a month traditionally dedicated to the Virgin Mary.

“In this month of May, a united chorus of prayers for peace has resounded throughout the Church,” he said. “Above all, through the prayer of the Holy Rosary — like an unbroken chain — the peoples ravaged by war have been entrusted to the intercession of the Virgin Mary.”

“May Divine Wisdom enlighten the consciences of those in authority and guide their decisions toward a sincere search for a just and lasting peace,” he said.

Leo also marked Italy’s 25th National Day of Relief, expressing closeness to the sick and those who care for them.

“I offer my spiritual closeness to the sick and those who care for them; and I thank and encourage all who promote a culture of solidarity and care,” he said.

  1. “The Trinity teaches that every creature is made for communion.”

True, but one cannot be in communion with Christ, And His One, Holy, Catholic, And Apostolic Church, In The Unity Of The Holy Ghost, if one does not Abide In The Word Of Perfect Divine Eternal Infinite Love Incarnate, Our Savior, Jesus The Christ.

    • This is not how this kind of matter is dealt with -having to restate the obvious.

‘ The embryos were traced to Vita Altera IVF, a clinic operating in Lefkosa that authorities say had no legal standing to be removing biological material from the territory.

Two more suspects linked to the clinic were arrested. The courier company behind the transfer, LifeParcel, was founded by an Israeli embryologist Aharon Peretz and runs international IVF logistics operations. Where the embryos were headed remains under investigation.

In October 2024, Gaza authorities announced that 120 bodies had been returned through the International Committee of the Red Cross over three consecutive days.

The director of the government media office, Ismail Thawabta, stated that most arrived in deplorable condition, with evidence of field executions and systematic torture. Some were returned blindfolded and bound, others bearing signs of strangulation.

Crucially, parts of many corpses were missing, including eyes, corneas, and other organs, which Thawabta described as confirmation that the army had stolen human organs while holding the bodies.

At that point, Israel was holding the bodies of 735 Palestinian prisoners, including 67 children.

This was not the first time such findings had reached the United Nations. ‘

Multiplying the multi-speak is part of a large-scale critical (not minor) problem.

‘ Cases involving human embryos are particularly hard to prosecute, given the technology’s relatively recent development.

“This is a complex legal field that unfolds simultaneously before law enforcement authorities, health officials and various international mechanisms,” Nir Yaslovitzh, an attorney specializing in international criminal law, told Ynet. “In many cases, the central legal question is not only what was done, but how the procedure was arranged with the authorities and what regulatory framework applied.”

Adding to the case’s legal complexity is that it occurred in an entity recognized only by Turkey, which the rest of the world considers occupied territory. ‘

The US has put itself into a legal disadvantage to intervene by its acceeptance of abortion as a “regulatory issue” and could be part of the market. WHY?

‘ ….. Authorities are also investigating suspected illegal embryo trafficking and their transfer through different countries. According to one account, the shipment’s destination was Mexico.

The investigation is also focusing on the suspected smuggling route. Ercan Airport in northern Cyprus is not officially recognized by many countries, and most flights from it travel to Turkey, mainly Istanbul. Turkish Cyprus is recognized as an independent state only by Turkey. ‘

In order to deny the self evident Truth that can be known through both Faith and reason, that speciation begins at the moment of conception, thus it is not possible for a man and woman to conceive a son or daughter who is not, in essence
        ,a human person.

It is telling that there is no mention of how abortion objectifies the human person and denies the Sanctity and Dignity of the beloved son or daughter residing in their mother’s womb or how the reordering of human persons according to sexual desire/inclination/orientation , in direct violation of God’s Commandment regarding lust and the sin of adultery, demeans the inherent Sanctity and Dignity of every Human Person, consistent with the end goal of the atheist materialist over population alarmist globalist have already achieved their goal of the objectification of the human person by their lack of respect for and thus their refusal to affirm The Sanctity and Dignity of All Human Person created in The Image Of God, at the moment of their creation at conception.

  3. “The Trinity teaches that every creature is made for communion.”

Ok, I’ve read this three times. Still don’t get it.

    Great White Sharks?

    • It’s a poorly written/considered headline.

What Pope Leo actually said: “The Trinity helps us to love everyone and everything: we discover that every creature is made for communion, relationship and encounter. On the other hand, we understand why division, polarization and contempt for diversity bring destruction, sadness and barrenness to the world.”

      • I guess my problem is with the word “creature” as used by the Pope. I seem to recall the distinction between humans and animals is that we (alone) were made in the image and likeness of God. To be fair he might be using that to include angels but I don’t know.

It’s my belief Leo likes to speak in nebulous, euphemistic neologisms that are a product of his generation. I would say We need to be divided and polarized when confronted with the assaults on God and humanity that we are confronted with on a regular basis.

“Contempt for diversity” could have been coined by a blue-haired nose-ring wearing HR person. My admittedly cynical guess is that’s code for restraints on foreign entry to (some) countries. Some religions and cultures condone or permit child marriage and I certainly contemn that sort of “diversity”.

  4. “ 6 The wolf shall dwell with the lamb: and the leopard shall lie down with the kid: the calf and the lion, and the sheep shall abide together, and a little child shall lead them.”

Only Human Persons, however, can have both the ability and desire to live in Loving Communion with one another in communion with The Most Holy Blessed Trinity In The Unity Of The Holy Ghost, and thus only Human Persons have been Sanctified.Through The Sacrifice Of The Cross.

  5. Analogic comparison exists between U.S. negotiation interests and Iranian duplicity – with Leo XIV’s commitment for a unified, orthodox Church – straddled with Jorge Bergoglio’s entrenched legacy as supreme pontiff.
Noticeable devotion to Pope Francis is suggested in Pope Leo’s appointments and his ‘contempt for diversity’ condemnation. We’ve experienced a first year of Leo’s papacy with no dramatic change in recovery of doctrinal clarity. The only tangible difference is seen in finesse.
Some statements by Pope Leo seem promising. Seemingly because there’s little if any concrete evidence that he will make the hard changes. As mused before my thoughts are that he may have a grand strategy of slow implementation of securing justice [one the ongoing Marko Rupnik scandal], the recovery of Apostolic belief and mission.
Change that really matters is rarely achieved by slow incremental steps, rather by strong commitment and courage. Historically, slow, almost silent efforts at major change are instead achieved by cementing evil in place.
