@ Are You Smarter than AI?
Yes. Not in the sense of overall rapid identification of facts or feasible response to questions, rather the dynamic we cannot invent [AI a human invention], creative thought independent of data resources.
That capacity belongs to the unique capacity of the human soul’s likeness to God. As we know only it is only God who can create the soul in his likeness. We’re like God in creative thought not in his power to create beings who can think.
@ Three cardinals don’t speak for the Church
Phil Lawler raises an important question. Whether the three cardinals spoke for the Church, or simply expressed their private sentiments?
It’s a double edged sword in that it can be interpreted as a yes and a no. For one, they don’t manifestly represent a quorum including the pope. Otherwise they may rightfully express a correct moral response. Furthermore, as Lawler suggests they do have the right to express their opinions.
The other related issue is their favorable standing with Pope Leo who positioned Cupich in Rome in a consultative position. Pope Leo has since publicly spoken in context favorable to their position. Finally ending the discussion Lawler is correct.
@ Against a Christ-less Christianity
At stake in Caleb Angell’s claim that it’s the Church and not Greek philosophy, Christian values, and Roman Law that’s “the source of the West’s relative greatness”.
We can agree it’s the Church that absorbed and perfected what comprised the civil, ethical structure for Western civilization. Although, nor can these dynamics be dismissed as simply advantageous, and not, at the least, putatively essential to the creation of the mystical body instituted by Christ.
For example it would be nigh impossible for the institution to have occurred in the Congo, or for that matter China. Greatness, to its given extent, was already present due to Greek philosophy and Roman Law.
Nevertheless, Angell’s premise that the West has devolved into a form of Christless Christianity is manifestly true. That form, secular humanism. Without the mystical body of Christ in the world.
Although, it’s also true that without the three dynamics present in Europe that the Church might not have flourished as it had. Today, while the Church in Europe is in serious decline, these dynamics Greek philosophy, Christian values, Roman Law are in essence incorporated in the worldwide missionary message that is now widely successful in areas previously not suited for the initial institution of the Christ revelation of God the Father.

An anti-Trinity?
Thank you, Peter Laffin, for your clear explanation of the Trump-Vance administration’s support for abortion.
Lucy: So do about 50% of Catholics. Now what will you do about turning THAT around? Nothing, I imagine.
