An interview with the president of EWTN Spain about his book on the existence of God has gone viral on social media, underlining the interest of the so-called Gen Z (those born in 1997 or later) in the mystery of the existence of God (note: EWTN is the parent company of CNA).

José Carlos González-Hurtado discussed his book “Nuevas Evidencias Científicas de la Existencia de Dios” (“New Scientific Evidence of the Existence of God”) with Luis Usera on the “Con P de Podcast.” The interview, posted just a month ago, is an hour-and-a-half-long conversation that has had nearly 365,000 views on YouTube in its full format.

It has since been posted in short clips on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube, giving it a total of more than 40 million views, according to the book’s publisher, Voz de Papel, which said in a statement that the interest is “truly surprising.”

The book is based on the fact that “never before has there been so much scientific evidence of the existence of God,” as its author explained during the presentation of the volume last September.

The social media posts have also led the book to become the eighth best-selling book on Amazon on Jan. 7, “surpassing most of the [popular] best-sellers, both romantic novels and self-help books,” the publisher noted.

González considers that, despite living in a society “full of entertainment that makes it difficult for us to think about the big questions, we all want to know if God exists,” because “the way in which we live our lives” depends on this question.

According to the president of EWTN Spain, “there are only two possibilities, and necessarily one of the alternatives is true and the other is not: either God-Creator exists or he does not exist”; a third way, in which God “exists, but just a little,” is not possible, nor can one have an “every once in a while God,” he said.

  1. A welcome support to the faith, although faith in Christ as the Son of God is just that. Faith. Whereas belief in God as González-Hurtado suggests is instead arrived at by reason.
On the less happy side the likely enthusiasts aren’t apostates and disbelievers. Rather they’re the many faithful whose faith is shaken by the apostate ramblings emanating from the Vatican during this pontificate. Faith in Christ as the Son of God, the self revelation of God actually invigorates the intellect, awakening our reasoning to the existence of God.
