Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney, asked today in Ohio to further clarify his stance on life issues, said (ht: LifeNews.com):
“I think I’ve said time and again that I’m a pro-life candidate and I’ll be a pro-life president. The actions I’ll take immediately is to remove funding for Planned Parenthood. It will not be part of my budget. And also I ‘ve indicated that I will reverse the Mexico City position of the president. I will reinstate the Mexico City policy which keeps us from using foreign aid for abortions overseas.”
Maggie Haberman of the Politico says,
Romney’s form, if not substance entirely, have been drifting more toward the center over the last two weeks, most notably in his debate last week with President Obama. But this comment underscores one of his harder-right positions, ahead of the next face-off.
Which means that Romney is arguably still a bit left of John F. Kennedy, a Democrat (if anyone doesn’t remember) in 1960. How times have changed.
