A Year of Planned Barrenhood: 329,455 abortions and 841 adoption “referrals”

PPFA received $487.4 million in tax dollars over a twelve-month period

The Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) has released its 2009-2010 annual report, and the numbers are big, especially the number of babies killed and the amount of money collected. CNSNews.com summarizes some of the most important figures:

According to its latest annual report, the Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) received $487.4 million in tax dollars over a twelve-month period and performed 329,455 abortions. …

Previous Planned Parenthood annual reports showed total funding from “government grants and contracts” (which were $363.2 million in 2009), while this year’s report also accounts for payments from Medicaid managed care plans among the payments the group receives from government .

When compared with previous annual reports, the latest one shows an almost steady increase in the number of abortions performed at its clinics: In 2006, Planned Parenthood did 289,750 abortions; in 2007, it did 305,310; in 2009, it did 331,796; and, in 2010, it did 329,445–a small decrease from the previous year. …

According to PPFA’s annual report for fiscal year 2007-2008,  in 2007 Planned Parenthood’s “adoption referrals to other agencies” totaled 4,912. In Fiscal Year 2010 that number was 841, a decrease of 82.8 percent.

The PPFA Fact Sheet states that adoption is included in 1 percent of services in 2008 (primary care and “other services” are included in that 1 percent), or 2,405 adoption referrals.

While PPFA claims that abortions make up only 3% of its “medical services”, its report indicates that PPFA “served” 3 million people “and performed 329,445 abortions – numbers that show 11 percent of customers received an abortion.” And since encouraging and facilitating the destruction of innocent human life is so important and, um, lucrative, PPFA proudly notes that it is exporting death and the contraceptive mentality throughout the world. The result? “Reproductive health care” was made available to 655,000 “women and adolescents” and 245,000 “men, women, and young people” were given the valuable (for PPFA) gift of sex ed. Back in April 2011, CNSNews reported:

Planned Parenthood, according to its most recent annual report, also received $363.2 million in government grants and contracts during its fiscal year that ended on June 30, 2009.

Planned Parenthood spokeswoman Tait Sye recently told Bloomberg Businessweek that 90 percent of that $363.2 million came directly from the federal government or from Medicaid, a federal-state program. Thus, Planned Parenthood received about $326.88 million from federal programs in 2009.

Although the money from federal programs that went to Planned Parenthood in 2009 theoretically paid for things other than the 332,278 abortions the organization performed that year, the fact remains that Planned Parenthood—an abortion provider–received subsidies from federal programs that equaled about $932 per abortion it performed.
